Give the Gift of Time
A man’s watch says something about him. It’s a subtle reminder of his personal style. The men’s watches at Copeland Jewelers are for men of taste, who appreciate quality, engineering and craftsmanship, and could care less about the latest trend. They’re for Austin men who stand out from the crowd.
Cuervo y Sobrinos Watches
The intangible components of these beautiful timepieces are as myriad as the physical pieces: engineering, artistry, revolution, celebrity, glamour, and second chances, to name a few. Founded in 1882 in Havana, Cuba, Cuervo y Sobrinos rivaled Cartier during the years when Havana served as a playground for rich and famous Americans. Early customers included Ernest Hemingway, Clark Gable, Albert Einstein, and more. Then, when Cuba fell into political turmoil, the brand all but vanished — however, all was not lost. Forty years later, an Italian family resurrected Cuervo y Sobrinos, its history, and it technical artistry. The company’s safe was re-opened during the late 1990s, revealing not only the guestbook graced with the immortal names of the company’s first customers, but designs and inspiration used today by the watchmakers in Switzerland who manufacture all the components of new Cuervo y Sobrinos products. Today the romantic history of these marvelous timepieces lives on, lionized in the authentic Cuban humidor that encases each new Cuervo y Sobrinos watch.
A brand with a spirit that’s All-American, the worlds of aviation, sports and films all converge in the Hamilton brand. It was none other than Elvis Presley that made famous the Hamilton Ventura, the world’s first electric watch, when he first wore one in 1961’s Blue Hawaii. The King was so taken with the Ventura’s triangular, futuristic styling, that it became his favorite watch. After the movie, he bought two more and regularly gave Hamilton Venturas as gifts.
Worn by aviators since 1919, chosen by Hollywood stylists for 60 years, and favored by sportsmen across the US since its founding in 1892, the Hamilton brand always makes a statement.
